I don’t buy into religion. All it caused in my younger days was pain. It’s either a weapon or a crutch. Or a crutch used as a weapon.

I want to believe in something. I guess I believe in Order vs. Chaos. I believe there’s a natural organizing order and when there’s not, there’s chaos. When I say order, I just think of the beautiful things in nature – spider webs, etc. Are order and chaos the core of religious principles? I guess the only difference is that the zealots put human names or apply Godly personifications to those principles. If I believe in anything, am I still buying into those ancient superstitions? I believe in doing “the right thing” over doing “the wrong thing” and that if you do “the wrong thing,” chaos reigns. I just don’t think those guiding principles should come at the expense of stepping on another person’s neck. There’s philosophy 101 from Bryan.

Heavy stuff, man.

I should blush here…. You are right — they behave like it is dogma. Sometimes I think of dogma as a ‘protection’…. if its not dogma, I’m free to argue about it without risking real trouble. people may think I’m a liberal, but if someone censors me I have the right to appeal… and the person who pronounced the censor maybe reprimanded.

Religion is a rather confusing beast… I happen to think the world is better off for having it…. many disagree with me.

As always, thanks for the feedback MDJ. Minor point, however, in that I didn’t mean that “no condoms” was the dogma. I meant ALL established religions are dogmatic for pretending to know anything and commanding “true” believers to follow their dictates, beliefs, ideas, rituals, etc.

Funny thing that…. ‘no condoms’ is not “Dogma”… it can’t be…. though, it is a logical conclusion of Latin tradition. (I spent some time worshiping with Eastern Christians, they have not come to the same conclusion.)

I take back what I said. You’ve haven’t crack. You’ve splintered a little. The allure of poetry to me, however, is the beauty of the language or the form on the page over using language as a end to create meaning. I know you just don’t create meaning in this piece. There is word play, rhyme etc. It is though, sometimes, I feel you fall prey to the sort of dogma constructs you abhor. Or maybe this poem’s simplicity is a sort of facade. Well, maybe, but the lines, and don’t get this the wrong way and block me, are unattractive to me in anything other than being put on the page to create meaning. I do like the little gremlin fella–sort of the trickster in all this and his evolution in being flows with your language. There I tried to give you a quality response. Block me if you wish.
