When I ask you for your number
you joke and say it’s infinity.
I ask how I’m supposed
to dial that and you tell me
that you can’t be reached.
I laugh to check your
legs out and read what
everything else is saying.
You smile at me and I forget
the rules of what we’re playing.

Now thats a tough game! Seems the odds are against us.
Don’t we know it, too! But still, what a payoff … that’s why people say they got lucky.
I always forget the rules. I hate rules.
Speaking of that, here’s a modern Villanelle–it’s for today, the 11th, but I’d like us to carry it with us every day. http://hgstewart.wordpress.com/2009/09/10/when-freedom-stands/
